It’s been awhile since I have written a food blog – newly married, crazy at work and definitely eating out more than I should it’s no wonder this homemade gluten free food blog is becoming more of a restaurant review site! (I know, I lead a hard life) However, a restaurant like Brigadiers certainly inspired me to get back online and tell the gluten free world all about it.
I walked in to meet my husband and his colleague and I instantly knew this was going to a winner. Greeted by wonderful staff they showed me to where my husband was sat. As I walked through the beautiful bar/restaurant I couldn’t help but look at each table and I got so excited by what I saw. The food looked amazing! I quickly learnt that Darius hadn’t just popped in for a drink before our meal but him and his colleague got so tempted by what they saw that they had started on the bar snacks – he was very much looking forward to me trying as he knew I would love them.
A quick drink and then we sat down – I asked if they had a gluten free menu and was really pleased to hear that they did. There was so much choice – I wanted to try everything. However, I do have some constraint and we ordered a number of dishes to share. Pappadams with a selection of delicious chutneys, masala chicken skin bites (which can be seen above), cheese and onion bhajias, bbq butter chicken wings – the list goes on. The food arrived, I stuffed my face and with every single bite I reminder Darius and my friend Amy, who had now replaced my husbands colleague, that this was in fact heaven for me. Indian food is definitely my favourite cuisine – it’s been hard to top a good old curry from Tooting but Brigadiers definitely did it.
So, if you are gluten free and love a trendy bar/restaurant then get yourself along to Brigadiers – a Sports Bar (yes, but don’t let that put you off) in Bank – you won’t be disappointed. I will definitely see you there!
Ps. Other delightful dishes include the Wood Roasted Chettinad Aubergine with Chanda Daal and Mango Ginger Raita or the Brigadiers House Daal.
